NWLNL & Umpires

There has been some confusion the last couple of weeks with umpires being given the wrong time and the wrong court and so we wanted to clarify the situation.

It is the Club’s responsibility to ensure that they book an appropriate umpire (mentored or confident and from the NWLNL Umpire List) for the right date, time and venue.

Club Secretaries have been emailed the up-to-date Fixtures and Umpire Duties.  They must ensure they pass this information onto their Teams as soon as possible.
The Website is up-to-date with Fixtures (including venues).
If any further changes need to be made, they will be informed as soon as possible.

The League Handbook sets out the rules and penalties for failure to provide an umpire for the designated match.  Going forward, these penalties will be applied.

This season is different because we have to use more than 1 venue in order to fit all the matches in; it is going to get more complicated in the New Year because we will have to use 3 venues to ensure all matches (League, Cup & Plate) can be played.

If there is an ON-THE-DAY issue with an umpire, the Umpire Secretary must be contacted in the first instance.  If she is unable to respond (e.g. due to playing, umpiring or illness), then the match officials and Team Captains will decide what will happen, in line with the EN Rulebook and the League Handbook.

THE SAME UMPIRES WHO START UMPIRING A MATCH MUST UMPIRE THE WHOLE MATCH (unless illness or injury forces an umpire to stop).

If any team or club is ensure of their umpire duty, venue or time, and the Fixtures email sent to Club Secretaries or the Website does not clarify the situation, please contact the Fixtures Secretary immediately.

Thank you x
