Match reports – Week 24 – 8.3.2020

Whitwick Ignite vs Ashby Tornados
Ignite had a great game against Ashby Tornados, a relentless and fast paced game but we didn’t give up. 27-45 to Ashby and an MVP for Amy Matravers

Swadlincote Swifts vs Ashby Fire
A 9:00 start time and Ashby Fire and Swad Swifts were in action. Swifts started strong and gained a small lead, but it was fought back from Ashby who took the lead and finished strong. Swifts circle defence put the pressure on Ashby attack throughout the game. Great shooting by Shiv which earned her GOG. Well done to all of swifts, I’m proud to captain this team and congratulations to Dani Taylor for Swifts GOG

Gracedieu Diamonds vs Coalville Jets.
Even though we had the cameras rolling throughout the game due to a player of ours needing to film for her A-level studies, a good enjoyable game was had today. The 1st two quarters were fairly even with both teams winning 1 each.
At half time Diamonds had a reshuffle swapping Tash in GD up to GA and Fiona in GA down to GK. This provided extra speed in the attacking circle and strength in the defensive circle.
The swap proved fruitful as Diamonds then pulled ahead winning the following two quarters and ending the game 60 – 44 victorious.
A well played game by both sides, friendly yet competitive, an enjoyable game where we were able to explore 2nd positions of a few players.

Match Reports – Week 22 – 23.2.2020

Swadlincote Swifts vs Hornettes Blacks
A couple of different players in the swad line up today, with Rebecca Gracie and Hannah Wale taking to the court. The changes didn’t deter swifts who dominated from the start. Swifts made some great interceptions, in defence and attack, and converted the turnovers. Congratulations to the two GOGs, Hannah Wale and Sandie Greatorex. And well done swifts for playing with patience against a constantly changing opposition.

Donington Diamonds vs Bosworth Roses
A great match today between Donington Diamonds and Bosworth Roses. At the end of the first quarter there were only 2 in it but Diamonds led 9-7. There were some great defence tactics in both ends and intercepts by both GK’s made it difficult for the ball to get into the circle. Donington managed to draw away and finished the 2nd quarter 21-11. The third quarter saw Diamonds take a 13 point lead. Both teams dug deep in the 4th quarter and Diamonds secured the win with a final score of 41-22.
Enjoyable match and a very well deserved Diamonds player of the match for Fiona Cantwell – her first one!
