Swadlincote Netball Club initially started out as a back to netball group in Swadlincote with oldest members joining from 2013. In 2014, Swadlincote Swifts was formed and entered the NWL league for 2014/15 season in Division 2. At the end of 2015/16 season, Swifts came runners up and were promoted to Division 1. In 2016, the Club evolved & Swadlincote Starlings was formed joining the NWL 2016/17 season. Swadlincote Netball Club also play in the Burton & District Summer and Winter Leagues as Swadlincote Tornados and Swadlincote Hurricanes.
