MEET NEW PEOPLE
Playing in our League is a great way to meet new people. You can join as an individual and we will put you in touch with teams with other ladies like yourself. Definitely a lot more enjoyable than going to the gym!

Why Choose NWLNL?

Our Clubs and teams come from an area that spreads from Leicester to Burton-on-Trent, Coventry to Nottingham.

New teams enter into the bottom division (currently Division 2) and play each team in their Division twice: once before Christmas, and once after Christmas.  Year on year, we have grown and the 2018/19 Season is our biggest yet; so much so that we have to schedule 6-8 matches each weekend to fit them all in.

Matches are played on Sunday mornings (except bank holidays) between 9am and 2pm at Newbridge High School, Coalville or Ashby School, Leicester Road, Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The Season runs from September to June (depending on the number of teams & matches).

In addition to the League matches, we have the Cup and Plate Championships. Every team plays in Round 1 of the Cup; winners move onto Round 2, losers move onto the Plate matches.  At this point, it becomes a knock-out competition, with the last 2 remaining teams in both the Cup & Plate playing in the Finals.

End of Season Ball includes a presentation evening, where a number of awards are presented, including Most Valuable Player for the season, Winner of Divisions and Sportsmanship.  There is also a short AGM to cover and close the Season.

Every year, we host the Optimum Performance Cup Tournament at the end of the Season, and any team (not just NWL teams) can enter. This is a great, family friendly, social event, with a BBQ, bouncy castle and ice-cream as well as FREE sports massage, provided by OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE.

If you want to take on a new challenge, we are always on the look out for umpires. Our Umpire Secretary can help you find courses and all we ask in return is you make yourself available to our teams to help cover their umpire duty. We currently have a selection of C-Award qualified umpires and mentored umpires, who are working towards their C-award. If you are a mentored umpire, for every match you umpire, you will have a qualified co-umpire, as well as your mentor courtside to help you and build your experience and confidence.  This year we have 5 mentored umpires who are almost ready to take their Assessment.
