Match Day 6

The weather may have dampened the mood and there was a change of venue due to Newbridge being closed, but that didn’t stop our teams having another great day of netball.

Ashby:

The first match at Ashby School was slightly delayed in starting as the caretakers had not opened up for us, but it soon got underway.  Pearls gave Swifts a hard fight with only a few goals in it, but Swifts pulled away in the 4th Quarter and secured their 3rd win of the season.

Blaby and Roses took to the court next and put on a strong performance.  Both sides played well and an even 3rd quarter could have seen the match go either way, but Blaby came back in the 4th to take the match.

Diamonds continued their winning streak with a brilliant performance against Ashby Flames.  Flames had some excellent interceptions and turn-arounds but could not catch up with Diamonds who pulled away for the win.

Tridents v Jets was a tough last match of the day.  Some hard and fast play, some great interceptions, the match went back and forth and the final score shows how close a match it was.

Ibstock:

Measham Mermaids have a tough match against Division 2 front runners, Hornettes.  That did not stop them and they made Hornettes fight for every goal.

Starlings and Overseal finished the day at Ibstock with a fast and hot match.  The first 2 quarters saw Overseal and Starlings tussle for the quarter win, but by Q3, Overseal had found their stride.  Starlings had some great interceptions and put away some valuable goals, but Overseal came out victorious.

First round of Cup matches take place next weekend, so the League matches have a 2 weekend break.  Let’s see who goes through to the Cup and who goes through to the Plate.
