Replaying the ball – why is it so difficult to call?

Replaying is when a player has possession of the ball, loses possession and picks it up. It is not about if they controlled the ball.  As the umpire’s decision is subjective, it is one of the hardest rules to apply.   Remember, an umpire has a split second to decide if you had possession or not (in some instances, it is obvious), so don’t pull a face if a call doesn’t go your way.  You can work on your 2-handed catching (the safest way to catch the ball) in your training and, of course, a nice pass is always helpful.
