“Put your left leg in, your left leg out…”

When taking a shot on goal, the shooter (whether it is GA or GS) must be wholly within the circle – she cannot step in from outside.  A shooter may jump from outside the circle, catch the ball, land in the circle and shoot, provided she is not in possession of the ball when her feet leave the floor (she must be in the air or inside the circle).  Another tough call for umpires, especially if play is fast.  Some players are not aware of the rule and will have a shot on goal, the ball goes through the net and then they are not awarded the goal.  It can also cause confusion at the other end of the court, if the umpire’s call is not heard.
